Presentation of ADEID’S Renewable Energy and Climate Change Program
Since 10 years ago, ADEID initiated a Renewable Energy Program due to increasing fuel prices, the
difficulties for AES Sonel (Cameroon main electricity corporation) to electrify many rural communities in Cameroon
and the quest for the fight against the imminent climate change. With the above program, ADEID started working in the
mountain regions of Cameroon where she carried out pre-feasibility studies on micro hydro power.
From these studies 14 communities have benefited from our micro hydro electricity projects. The 14 communities include:
Mamaram-Fouban in the Noun, Fongundeng, Tchouandeng, Tongou-Baleng and Nefolem-Baleng, 2 plants in Bapi-Baleng,
Baham, in the West, Ballah Ngangagah Fontem, Wabane, Quibeku, Nkah Njenquinne and Nyuih in the South West and
Bamunkumbit in the North Western region. Due to the above successes, many communities in the mountain and other regions
of Cameroon are striving towards micro hydro electricity or seeking for other alternatives where micro hydro is not possible.
Presently, ADEID is constructing a biogas home system at Emmanuel Sisterhood in Bafut-Bamenda and is looking forward to
install a solar home pilot project of 2kw capacity and some wind turbines in some other communities in Cameroon.
ADEID is also involve in the fight against Climate Change through sanitization campaigns in many colleges, study research and
development of projects in this domain to help and sensitize the entire public about the danger of Climate Change in Cameroon
